The Union Cabinet of India has approved the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project, which will create a 41-km north-south corridor from Prahladpura to Todi Mod at a cost of ₹13,037.66 crore (approximately $1.57 billion USD). This project is expected to be completed by September 2031 and will feature 36 stations linking key areas such as the Sitapura Industrial Area and SMS Hospital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that this development is crucial for sustainable urban growth, enhancing connectivity and reducing congestion in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The project will also connect with the operational 11.64-km Phase-1 line, which currently serves about 60,000 daily riders. Funded through a mix of government equity and multilateral financing, the project is part of Rajasthan's transit-oriented development policy aimed at improving urban infrastructure and reducing emissions.
