When users select a photo, Gemini analyzes the image and suggests a caption that can be edited or removed before posting. This aims to simplify the process of sharing local knowledge and enhancing the context of shared images. Additionally, Google Maps now highlights recent photos and videos in the 'Contribute' tab for easier access. The Local Guides program, which encourages community contributions from over 500 million users worldwide, has also been updated to show total points earned and achievement badges, making it easier to recognize high-level contributors. Google is expected to expand the captioning feature globally and to Android users in the coming months.
