The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced its list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, scheduled for April 23, 2026. The announcement was made by the party's Central Election Committee. Among the notable candidates, Tamilisai Soundararajan will contest from Mylapore, while Vanathi Srinivasan will run from Coimbatore (North). Other candidates include Dr. L Murugan from Avanashi and M. Rajasimha Mahindra from Avadi, among others. The elections will feature a significant contest between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the AIADMK and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), and the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), which comprises the Congress and other regional parties. Additionally, actor Vijay is set to make his electoral debut with his newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), adding to the political dynamics of the state.
