Google has launched the AI Edge Eloquent app, a free application that turns spoken words into clean text without needing an internet connection. Utilizing Google's Gemma-based automatic speech recognition (ASR) models, the app downloads necessary features directly to the smartphone upon installation. One of its standout features is the ability to remove filler words and mid-sentence corrections, resulting in a polished final output. Users can also modify the text length and format it into a more formal structure or highlight key points. The app includes an editable dictionary for personalized vocabulary and prioritizes user privacy by processing data on the device itself. Although currently limited to iOS devices, Google is exploring compatibility with other platforms, including desktop systems, but has not announced a timeline for Android availability.
