The Noida authority has announced an increase in the land acquisition rate for the New Noida project, located in the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region, to ₹4,300 per square metre. This decision aligns the rate with that of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, aiming to persuade farmers to sell their land. The increase comes after 10 years of stagnant rates and follows directives from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during his visit to the Noida airport in November 2025. Farmers had expressed reluctance to part with their land due to inadequate compensation. Currently, land rates in Gautam Budh Nagar are set at ₹5,100 per square metre in Noida and ₹4,100 per square metre in Greater Noida. The New Noida project will span 209 square kilometres across more than 80 villages, with the first phase targeting 3,165 hectares from around 20 villages. The Noida authority is now seeking additional staff from the state government to facilitate land purchases.
