In a significant development for homebuyers, the Noida Authority has lifted a five-year ban on Sports City projects, enabling the approval of pending registries, building plans, and occupancy certificates. This decision, made during a board meeting on Monday, aligns with a November 2025 Supreme Court order that cleared a resolution plan for the Sports City project in Sector 150, developed by Lotus Green Constructions. The ban affected four projects across sectors 78, 79, 151, and 152, causing delays in flat registrations and possession for thousands of buyers. Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh confirmed that all prior restrictions have been revoked to address grievances of homebuyers. The Sports City initiative was originally designed to integrate sports infrastructure with residential development, mandating that 70% of land be allocated for sports facilities. However, regulatory action was taken in 2021 due to developers prioritizing residential construction over the required sports infrastructure. Moving forward, developers are now required to submit revised plans and are given a timeline of three years for sports infrastructure and five years for housing completion. This decision is expected to benefit approximately 8,000 homebuyers and provide clarity for developers, potentially reviving stalled investments in the area.
