Rani Kapur, the mother of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, has publicly expressed her fear of Priya Sachdev, her son's widow, amidst a contentious inheritance battle. Speaking to the news agency ANI, Rani claimed that she has been living in her Mumbai residence since her son's death in June 2025 due to concerns over Priya's intentions regarding the RK Family Trust, which was established by her late husband. Rani alleges that Priya is attempting to take over the family's wealth, stating, "I don’t know what she is going to do to get the wealth and it’s all my husband’s work." In January, Rani filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against Priya and the children of Sunjay's ex-wife, actress Karisma Kapoor, alleging the creation of a fraudulent family trust to strip her of her estate. Rani claims she was unaware of this alleged fraud until after her son's death. Meanwhile, Priya, who is a trustee and beneficiary of the RK Family Trust, has issued a notice to remove Rani as a trustee, accusing her of breaching her fiduciary duties. The ongoing dispute has also seen Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira and Kiaan, seeking a share of their late father's assets, alleging that Priya forged Sunjay's will.
