On Friday morning, a fire erupted in a three-storey building housing a commercial flour mill and packaging firm in Udyog Vihar Phase 1, Gurugram, India. The blaze, which started in the basement due to a short circuit, quickly spread to the upper floors, leading to the entrapment of 18 workers. Fire department officials responded promptly, deploying four fire tenders to the scene. The fire was reported at 11:22 AM and was controlled within an hour. Rescue efforts involved firefighters using ladders to evacuate workers from the first and second floors, while five individuals trapped in the smoke-filled basement required additional assistance. They were rescued by breaking windows for access and were later taken to a private hospital for treatment. All five workers were discharged later that evening.
