The Himachal Pradesh Police launched a unique art exhibition titled “Beyond the Uniform” at the Gaiety Theatre in Shimla, showcasing over 300 artworks created by 12 amateur police personnel. This three-day event, inaugurated by officiating Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tewari, includes a variety of artistic expressions such as portraits, watercolors, oil paintings, Mandala art, and wooden creations. The initiative aims to provide a public platform for the artistic talents of police personnel, many of whom lack formal training but possess a deep passion for art. Constable Prem Lata, whose work attracted attention from a tourist, emphasized the exhibition's role in uniting police officers who share a love for the arts. Head Constable Varun Katoch and Constable Deepika Pandit also expressed their excitement about showcasing their works, highlighting the challenges of balancing demanding police duties with artistic pursuits. ASP Sunil Negi, who conceptualized the event, noted that it aims to demonstrate that police personnel can be creative individuals beyond their professional roles.
