Ashok Tiwari, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh, announced that 16 police personnel have been dismissed this year due to their connections with drug trafficking. This decision reflects the department's zero tolerance policy towards drug-related corruption. The dismissals were based on violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act or credible intelligence indicating their complicity with drug traffickers. Tiwari emphasized that any association with drug peddlers, whether direct or indirect, is unacceptable. In conjunction with this announcement, the Himachal Pradesh Police hosted an art exhibition titled 'Beyond the Uniform' at the Gaiety Theatre, showcasing the artistic talents of police personnel while raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The exhibition featured various artworks focusing on Himachali culture and social issues, reinforcing the police's commitment to combatting drug addiction. Tiwari noted that such initiatives aim to highlight the hidden talents of officers and engage them beyond their regular duties.
