On April 6, a significant security breach occurred at the Delhi Assembly when Sarabjit, a resident of Puranpur in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, crashed his car through Gate No. 2. He entered the premises, sat in the official car of Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, and placed a bouquet and garland inside before escaping within approximately six minutes. Following this incident, two Delhi Police officers, a Sub-Inspector and an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were suspended pending an inquiry. The breach has raised serious concerns regarding security protocols at the Assembly. Sarabjit was arrested shortly after the incident, and during court proceedings, it was revealed that he might be mentally unstable, having previously lived in a Gurudwara in Chandigarh. The court granted the Delhi Police eight days of custody for further interrogation, while the defence argued for the need for medical documentation to support Sarabjit’s mental health claims. The case continues to unfold as investigations proceed.
