National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) achieved a 50.7% year-on-year increase in iron ore production, reaching 5.35 million tonnes (MT) in March 2026. Sales also rose by 40.1% to 5.90 MT, driven by significant gains in both the Chhattisgarh and Karnataka divisions.

In March 2026, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) reported a remarkable 50.7% year-on-year increase in iron ore production, totaling 5.35 million tonnes (MT) compared to 3.55 MT in March 2025. This surge in production was accompanied by a 40.1% increase in sales, which reached 5.90 MT during the same period. The Chhattisgarh division was a major contributor, with production jumping 61% to 4.01 MT and sales climbing 56.3% to 4.25 MT. Meanwhile, the Karnataka division reported a 26.4% increase in production to 1.34 MT, with sales rising 10.7% to 1.65 MT. For the fiscal year up to March 2026, NMDC's total iron ore production stood at 53.15 MT, reflecting a 20.6% increase year-on-year, while sales rose 13.1% to 50.23 MT. Despite these production gains, NMDC's consolidated net profit fell 7.9% to ₹1,747.01 crore amid a 15.9% rise in revenue from operations to ₹7,610.79 crore in the third quarter of FY26 compared to the same quarter in FY25. Following the announcement, NMDC's stock price decreased by 0.75% to close at ₹77.56 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
