The incident occurred at the Kaliachak 2 Block Development Office, where the officers were conducting their duties. Protesters blocked National Highway 12 and attempted to damage the vehicles carrying the officials. Security forces intervened late Wednesday night, using batons to disperse the crowd and ensure the safe evacuation of the officers, which included three women. After the rescue, the blockade continued until an Additional District Magistrate assured the protesters that eligible voters' names would be reinstated within four days. Following this assurance, the protesters withdrew their blockade. The Election Commission has requested a report on the incident from the Director General of Police as West Bengal prepares for elections on April 23 and 29, with counting set for May 4.
