The Delhi government has obtained a no-objection certificate (NOC) from Indian Railways, allowing the resumption of construction on the Bhairon Marg underpass, a crucial element of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Corridor Project. Public Works Department (PWD) minister Parvesh Verma announced that the project aims for completion by December 2026. This underpass is designed to alleviate congestion on Ring Road and Bhairon Marg, enhancing connectivity in the area. The project had been stalled due to various challenges, including engineering complexities related to the site’s proximity to the Yamuna River and active railway lines. A redesign was proposed to address these issues, reducing the underpass dimensions to accommodate only light vehicles. The approval from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in August 2025 was a significant step forward, resolving key technical concerns. Once operational, the underpass is expected to facilitate smoother traffic flow during major events at the ITPO complex.
