Banking unions have long pushed for a five-day work week, similar to other sectors, citing the need for better work-life balance amid growing workloads. However, discussions have yet to yield a formal decision, and banks continue to operate on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays. Looking ahead, regional bank holidays in April will occur on April 14-16 and April 20-21, impacting specific states like Assam, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu.
