On Tuesday, the Ethereum Foundation unveiled a $1 million Audit Subsidy Program aimed at reducing the high costs associated with smart contract security audits, a significant hurdle in crypto development. This initiative is part of the foundation's larger Trillion Dollar Security Initiative, which seeks to enhance the security of the Ethereum ecosystem as it scales to accommodate more complex applications. By partnering with over 20 leading audit firms, the program will provide builders with easier access to professional security reviews, thus promoting safer development practices. Additionally, the foundation introduced the CROPS principles, which stand for censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security, to guide the construction and evaluation of applications within the ecosystem. The subsidy program is open to all builders on the Ethereum mainnet, regardless of their project size or stage, allowing selected teams to apply the subsidies directly to audit services through Areta’s platform.
