According to a report from India's statistics ministry, the gross value added (GVA) per establishment in the unincorporated construction sector reached ₹7.98 lakh for the year. The gross value of output (GVO) during this period was estimated at ₹16.25 lakh. The data, collected in a pilot study from July to December 2025, indicates that 1.027 million establishments were engaged in construction activities, compared to 9.854 million households involved in the sector. Tamil Nadu topped the list with a GVA of ₹24.7 lakh, followed by Karnataka and Jharkhand, both at ₹11.9 lakh. Each establishment employed an average of about five workers, with urban areas showing a higher average of 5.5 workers compared to 4.5 workers in rural areas. Financing trends revealed that 97% of households used their own income for construction, while 21% relied on institutional loans, which were more accessible in rural areas (23%) than urban areas (13%).
