Police in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, thwarted a major land scam on Friday, arresting seven individuals who posed as land brokers and government officials. The suspects fabricated a false ownership claim for 13.5 kanals of land in Wussan Bangil, presenting one of their associates as the legitimate owner. They deceived the complainant, Abdul Ahad Malik from Panzi Nara Shalteng, who had already paid ₹4,00,000 (approximately $4,800 USD) in cash and ₹10,000 (approximately $120 USD) via bank transfer, and were attempting to extract an additional ₹20,00,000 (approximately $2,400 USD). The police acted swiftly, apprehending the suspects at a critical moment and preventing further financial loss. During the operation, they seized forged revenue documents related to the land in question. A case has been registered at Kunzer police station, and investigations are ongoing.
