During a town hall meeting at Air India's headquarters in Gurugram, Natarajan Chandrasekaran (chairman of Tata Sons) called on employees to stay focused on execution amid ongoing challenges in the airline industry. He acknowledged the turbulent environment, marked by rising fuel costs and supply-chain constraints, which have impacted airlines globally, including Air India. Despite these challenges, Chandrasekaran reaffirmed the Tata Group's commitment to Air India, highlighting significant progress made since the acquisition in January 2022, such as hiring over 17,000 employees, consolidating operations, and improving customer experience. However, the airline continues to face difficulties, including a search for a new CEO after Campbell Wilson's resignation. In FY25, Air India's standalone revenue rose 13% to ₹61,080 crore (approximately $7.35 billion USD), but it still reported losses of ₹3,976 crore (approximately $480 million USD). The low-cost arm, Air India Express, also reported widening losses of ₹5,822 crore (approximately $700 million USD), despite a 26% increase in revenue.
