On April 4, a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and Patna police arrested three individuals for robbing two employees of a Gujarat-based jeweller near Danapur railway station in Bihar. The criminals posed as customs officers and seized 22 kg of gold from the jewellers, who were travelling in an auto-rickshaw. During the operation, police recovered 5.79 kg of gold ornaments and bars along with ₹1.97 lakh in cash from the suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as Santosh Bhagat alias Amarnath Gopi, Aditya Giri alias Soni, and Sanjay Kumar alias Guddu. The jewellers, Mahesh Mamtora and Prince Ramparia, were intercepted by a group posing as customs officers while on their way to Bakerganj. The robbers used a stolen Baleno car with a fake registration number to carry out the heist. Following the incident, the police found the bags containing gold, which had GPS devices, discarded on the AIIMS-Naubatpur road. Investigations revealed that the mastermind of the robbery had been planning the crime for over a year, documenting the jewellers' movements. Police are conducting raids across states to apprehend additional suspects involved in the robbery.
