Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken a strong stance against the delays in various construction projects in Amaravati, the state capital. During a high-level review meeting, he highlighted that projects worth ₹57,821 crore are in progress, with ₹50,943 crore already initiated. Naidu expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of certain contractors and officials, urging them to expedite work to meet deadlines. Approximately 20,000 workers are involved in the construction efforts, but contractors raised concerns about manpower shortages due to assembly elections in other states. Naidu instructed that local skilled labor should be utilized to mitigate this issue. He also ordered the establishment of a 'green channel' for the seamless transport of construction materials, addressing delays caused by environmental regulations. Additionally, he raised concerns about safety following recent fire incidents at construction sites, emphasizing the need for better preparedness and accountability among contracting firms. Naidu warned that negligence could harm the government's reputation and urged for competent project managers to be appointed for effective oversight.
