On Monday, Sarabjit Singh, 37, drove an SUV through a boom barrier at the Delhi Assembly, prompting immediate security concerns. During a court hearing, the Delhi Police indicated that the possibility of a terrorist act cannot be dismissed. Special Public Prosecutor Atul Kumar Srivastava revealed that Singh attempted to run over a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) head constable at the Assembly's Gate 2. The police are conducting a thorough investigation, including the recovery of Singh's mobile phone, which he allegedly discarded in a river in Kurukshetra. They aim to uncover the motives behind his actions and any potential accomplices. The court, led by Judicial Magistrate Kartik Taparia, noted that despite claims of Singh's mental incapacity, the nature of the allegations suggests he was aware of his actions. Singh had recently purchased the SUV and had hired taxi drivers for transportation, indicating premeditation. He has been remanded to police custody for eight days to facilitate further investigation.
