On Thursday, the Delhi government conducted a significant operation against unauthorized LPG refilling centres in Alipur, a locality in outer north Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that any exploitation of consumers or manipulation of LPG distribution would face the strictest penalties. The operation was prompted by a sting operation aired on April 1, revealing illegal activities. During the raid, officials discovered illegal refilling practices and seized materials, including consumer passbooks allegedly used for unauthorized sales. To enhance enforcement, the government has established 13 district-level teams led by sub-divisional magistrates to conduct targeted operations based on intelligence and public complaints. Gupta warned that those involved in hoarding or illegal resale of LPG cylinders would face severe legal consequences. The government reassured residents of the adequate supply of LPG and encouraged them to report suspicious activities through helplines operational from 9 am to 7 pm. Daily press briefings will provide updates on enforcement actions, ensuring transparency and accountability.
