IndiGo, a major Indian airline, announced the deployment of its long-range Airbus A321XLR aircraft on the Delhi-Istanbul route, effective April 19. This route is currently serviced by an Airbus A320neo with a technical halt in Jeddah. The A321XLR will be IndiGo's second such aircraft, following its induction earlier this year, making it the first Indian carrier to operate this model. The A321XLR is designed for enhanced range, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort, allowing IndiGo to tap into new long-haul markets. The airline will offer a dual-class configuration on this route, featuring 183 Economy seats and 12 IndiGoStretch business class seats. Previously, IndiGo had wet-leased Boeing 777 aircraft from Turkish Airlines to meet the growing demand for international travel from India. Despite geopolitical tensions, the partnership with Turkish Airlines enables IndiGo to provide seamless connections to over 50 international destinations.
