In light of the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the Indian government has taken steps to ensure the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across the country. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has urged citizens to refrain from panic buying and unnecessary bookings of LPG cylinders, recommending the use of digital methods for bookings. To alleviate pressure on LPG demand, the government encourages the use of alternative fuels such as piped natural gas (PNG), induction cooktops, and electric cooktops. States have been instructed to enforce strict measures against hoarding and black marketing under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Daily raids and inspections will be conducted in coordination with oil marketing companies to maintain vigilance against misinformation. The government assures that domestic LPG production has been increased and all refineries are operating at high capacity. Additionally, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is monitoring the safety of Indian seafarers in the region, with no incidents reported involving Indian-flagged vessels.
