The bill, which aimed to increase the Lok Sabha's strength from 543 to a maximum of 850 seats, failed to secure the required two-thirds majority, receiving 298 votes in favor and 230 against. Irani accused Congress of celebrating the denial of women's political rights, claiming that they have betrayed women who have long fought for representation. She characterized the opposition's behavior as indicative of a 'feudal mindset', suggesting that they view constitutional rights as political favors rather than entitlements. Additionally, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for her comments regarding women, asserting that such language dehumanizes them. Prasad emphasized that the BJP's focus is on ensuring equality, contrasting it with the opposition's power struggles.
