On Saturday, the principal of a private school in Sector 9B, Gurugram, was arrested for allegedly running the institution without proper affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This situation led to at least 11 Class 10 students being unable to appear for their board examinations due to the school’s failure to provide necessary admit cards. The principal, who was previously absconding, was apprehended in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Earlier, the school’s chairman had been arrested after admitting during interrogation that he misled students into believing the school was CBSE affiliated to generate profits. An FIR was filed against multiple school officials for cheating and criminal breach of trust, using forged documents to present a fake affiliation number. Following these events, parents approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which ordered the Haryana Board of School Education to allow the affected students to sit for their exams. Consequently, ten students received their admit cards just before the examinations began on February 26. Parents of the affected students are calling for strict punishment for the school authorities involved.
