The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, expected to open on April 14, will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just 2.5 hours, compared to the current 6 hours. This expressway, built at a cost of approximately ₹12,000 crore (roughly $1.45 billion USD), will start at the Akshardham Temple in Delhi and pass through several districts in Uttar Pradesh before reaching Dehradun. It is designed for a speed limit of 100 km/h and will also include a spur to Haridwar, improving access to popular pilgrimage and tourist destinations in Uttarakhand. In comparison, the fastest train, the Anand Vihar-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express, takes about 4 hours and 45 minutes. While flights are quicker at 1 hour and 10 minutes, they are generally more expensive, with ticket prices starting at around ₹4,089 (roughly $50 USD) per person. For group travelers, taking a cab may be more economical than train travel, while solo travelers may find the train to be a more affordable option.
