Kajal Meena, a sub-divisional magistrate in Karauli district, Rajasthan, was arrested on April 16 for accepting a bribe of ₹60,000 ($725 USD) through her reader, Dinesh Kumar Saini. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended her following a complaint alleging harassment for bribes related to a land dispute. Initially, the complainant reported that Meena demanded ₹1,00,000 ($1,210 USD), which was later reduced to ₹50,000 ($605 USD). The ACB verified the complaint and set up a trap, leading to Meena's arrest while accepting the bribe. In addition, officials recovered a suspicious amount of ₹4 lakh ($4,850 USD) from her possession, which is currently under investigation. Meena, who holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Mandi, was previously posted as an Assistant Collector in Tonk and as Sub Divisional Officer in Pratapgarh district. Following her arrest, she was suspended by the department of personnel.
