A police constable, Deepak Rawat, was injured during a mob attack at Tulsipur Crossing in Mehdawal town, Sant Kabir Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, late Saturday night. The confrontation arose from a dispute between the Yadav and Nishad communities, escalating when members of the Yadav group, who were drinking nearby, exchanged words with the Nishad group. Following the clash, approximately a hundred members of the Nishad community blocked traffic for nearly an hour, leading to the police's arrival. During the attempt to restore order, some members of the crowd began pelting stones, injuring Constable Rawat and damaging the station in-charge’s vehicle. Police detained four individuals and are using CCTV footage to identify others involved. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
