Shamim Mafi, a 44-year-old Iranian woman residing in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, was arrested on Saturday night at Los Angeles International Airport for allegedly trafficking drones and bombs intended for Tehran. Mafi is accused of brokering arms deals, including a significant $70 million contract for Mohajer-6 armed drones produced by Iran's Ministry of Defense. These drones and 55,000 bomb fuses were reportedly sold to the Sudanese Ministry of Defense, which has been engaged in a civil war since 2023. Mafi, who left Iran in 2013 and became a permanent US resident in 2016, allegedly used her Oman-registered company, Atlas International Business, to facilitate these transactions as recently as 2025. Court documents reveal that she maintained direct communication with Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security between December 2022 and June 2025. Despite her lavish lifestyle, including owning a $100,000 Mercedes-Benz, Mafi has denied any involvement in activities for Iran on American soil.
