The Vanrai police in Mumbai have arrested seven individuals linked to the drug-related deaths of two MBA students, Shreya Rai and Sheetal Salvi, at the ‘999999999’ music concert on April 11 at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon. The primary suspect, Vineet Sunil Gerelani, aged 22, allegedly supplied drugs to attendees and was present at the concert alongside two other suspected suppliers who are currently on the run. Following the concert, Rai and Salvi collapsed after reportedly consuming Ecstasy pills and later died in the hospital, while another student, Bismat Singh Bhasin, was hospitalized with severe symptoms. Investigators have indicated that a larger drug supply network may be operating at such events, as evidence suggests that some arrested individuals had participated in previous concerts at the same venue. The police have recovered messages from Gerelani's phone indicating he distributed drugs through Snapchat and received payments via bank transactions. The arrested individuals were presented in court and remanded in police custody until April 18. NESCO has denied any wrongdoing and is cooperating with the investigation.
