The Uttar Pradesh health department has announced a statewide Tetanus-Diphtheria (TD) vaccination campaign set to run from April 20 to 30. The initiative aims to immunize 23,62,548 children with the DPT (Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus) booster dose, along with administering the TD vaccine to 22,88,593 ten-year-olds and 18,72,242 sixteen-year-olds. The campaign will take place in all government and government-aided schools. Students in class 1 will receive the DPT-2 booster dose, while those in classes 4 and 5 will get the TD-10 vaccine, and students in classes 10 and 11 will be administered the TD-16 vaccine. Dr. Manoj Shukla, general manager of the National Health Mission, noted that children who missed previous TD booster shots can still receive the TD-10 or TD-16 vaccines. Although vaccination typically has no side effects, mild fever may occur, for which medicines will be provided. Children will be observed for half an hour after vaccination to ensure their safety.
