The Nashik City Police have escalated their investigation into serious allegations of sexual abuse and harassment at a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)-linked business process outsourcing (BPO) unit in Nashik, Maharashtra. They have shared details with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to investigate potential links to extremist organizations and foreign funding. Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik confirmed that a special investigation team (SIT) is looking into the roles of eight senior employees, with seven currently arrested. The allegations include multiple incidents of sexual harassment, religious coercion, and an attempted rape under the guise of job offers. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken cognizance of the matter and formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the incidents further. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran has described the allegations as “gravely concerning” and has initiated an internal inquiry led by TCS chief operating officer Aarthi Subramanian.
