The Haryana Department of State Transport is set to hold an auction for commercial spaces inside bus stands in Gurugram, Sohna, and Pataudi on April 28, 2023. This auction comes nearly a year after it was first announced, following numerous complaints from business owners about delays and rising rental costs. Vimal Sharma, a senior official in the transport department, stated that the auction will take place at the Sector 12 bus stand in Gurugram. Shopkeepers have expressed frustration over the prolonged wait, with one shoe seller noting that his rent has increased from ₹8,000 to ₹21,000 per month over seven years. Many shopkeepers are hesitant to vacate their premises due to fears of losing their security deposits, which can amount to significant savings. According to the transport department's regulations, shopkeepers must pay a security deposit equivalent to three months' rent, collected quarterly. The delay in the auction was attributed to officials being occupied with local body elections.
