The Telangana State Technical Colleges Employees Association (TSTCEA) has called on Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) to conduct upcoming inspections of engineering colleges transparently. TSTCEA's state president, Ayineni Santosh Kumar, highlighted serious concerns regarding unqualified principals leading several institutions and demanded that JNTUH publish a list of such colleges on its official website. The association also raised alarms over widespread non-payment of salaries to faculty, urging for verification of payslips and tax records to reveal discrepancies. Despite claims of adhering to the 7th Pay Commission norms, many colleges reportedly fail to pay even minimum wages as per All India Council for Technical Education guidelines. Furthermore, TSTCEA noted that gratuity benefits are not being implemented and that nearly 90% of institutions lack mandatory group accident insurance policies for faculty. They emphasized the need for job security and adherence to the prescribed faculty cadre ratio as per the Telangana Education Act, 1982. This plea comes as JNTUH prepares to begin inspections for granting affiliations for the 2026-27 academic year, with 153 applications received so far.
