In Virugambakkam, Chennai, three women were hospitalized after consuming chutney made from a coconut that had been laced with rat poison. The incident occurred in a rented house where seven women were staying. One of the women, Saira, had applied the poison to a piece of coconut but did not inform her housemates. When one of the residents unknowingly used this contaminated coconut to prepare chutney, three women—Nikita (20, from Trichy), Madhumitha (21, from Mayiladuthurai), and Savitha (21, from Puducherry)—experienced symptoms like dizziness and stomach ache after eating. They were initially treated at a government hospital in KK Nagar and later transferred to Royapettah hospital for further care. The local police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
