The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has proposed a comprehensive ₹700 crore plan to revamp its waste collection and transportation system. This initiative comes in response to numerous complaints from residents regarding irregular waste collection, overflowing dumping points, and deteriorating sanitation conditions. A significant aspect of the proposal is the increase in garbage-lifting vehicles to enhance door-to-door waste collection. Additionally, MCG plans to revise contractor payment structures, emphasizing labor costs based on minimum wage norms to improve accountability and service delivery. Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of MCG, indicated that the new Request for Proposal (RFP) will be submitted for final approval by the end of the week, with a four-month timeline set for completing the tendering process. This overhaul follows previous delays and technical issues in the tendering process, which left the civic body reliant on interim arrangements. The MCG aims to address ongoing issues, particularly in newer sectors, where residents have reported uncollected garbage and related sanitation problems.
