SatLeo Labs, a spacetech startup based in Bengaluru, has successfully raised $2.2 million (approximately ₹18 crore) in a seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures. This funding brings the company's total capital raised to $5.5 million. Founded by Shravan Singh Bhati, Ranendu Ghosh, and Urmil Bakhai, SatLeo Labs is focused on developing a multi-spectral satellite constellation that will provide high-resolution earth observation data for various applications, including climate monitoring, agriculture, and disaster response. Bhati emphasized the urgency of sustainability amid climate change and urbanization. The new funds will be allocated to enhance their low earth orbit thermal satellite mission and to expedite the development of their AI-driven thermal intelligence platform, which integrates infrared and visible imaging. The startup has already delivered its first thermal payload, TAPAS-1, achieving Technology Readiness Level-8 (TRL-8), and is preparing for flight readiness. Additionally, commercial pilots are being conducted in cities like Ahmedabad and Tumkur to monitor urban heat and air pollution. The company's commercial pipeline has reportedly increased significantly, with letters of intent rising from $15 million to over $42 million. Bhaskar Majumdar, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures, noted that this is their third investment in spacetech, indicating a strong belief in the sector's potential for technological innovation.
