A Delhi court has dismissed a plea from Rajesh Prajapati, a subcontractor implicated in the death of Kamal Dhyani, who fell into an unguarded pit in Janakpuri. Prajapati claimed his detention was illegal, arguing he was arrested on February 6 and presented before a magistrate two days later, violating constitutional provisions. However, Judicial Magistrate Harjot Singh Aujla found no merit in his claims, stating the evidence, including CCTV footage and arrest records, indicated that Prajapati was apprehended lawfully on February 7. The court also noted that the absence of CCTV cameras at the police station’s rear was an administrative issue beyond its oversight. The magistrate has called for a report from the deputy commissioner of police regarding the CCTV situation, highlighting the importance of evidence in legal proceedings.
