In a significant move to tackle air pollution, the Delhi government has shortlisted 33 innovative prototypes under its 'innovation challenge' for further trials. These solutions, which include solar-powered dust traps, filterless carbon-capturing devices, and vehicle-mounted air purifiers, aim to address the city's persistent air quality issues. The trials are set to commence in the first week of May and are expected to be completed within three months. An eight-member expert committee, led by IIT Professor Sagnik Dey, will assess the proposals to determine the most practical and cost-effective solutions. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee will offer financial incentives, including ₹5 lakh (approximately $6,000 USD) for successful evaluations and up to ₹50 lakh (approximately $60,000 USD) for solutions verified by recognized laboratories. A meeting is scheduled to finalize the trial process and necessary arrangements, with plans to trial all selected innovations.
