The Delhi government is advancing 33 innovative prototypes aimed at tackling air pollution to the trial phase, following their selection from a larger pool of applications. These prototypes include solar-powered pole-mounted dust traps, filterless smoke and dust carbon-capturing devices, and vehicle-mounted air purifiers. Trials are expected to commence in the first week of May 2023 and will last for about three months. An expert committee, led by IIT Delhi Professor Sagnik Dey, will assess the proposals to determine the most effective solutions. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee will offer financial incentives, including ₹5 lakh (approximately $6,000 USD) for successful evaluations and up to ₹50 lakh (approximately $60,000 USD) for solutions verified by accredited laboratories.
