In a shocking case from Rampur district, Uttar Pradesh, India, Daan Singh, along with two accomplices, was arrested for the alleged murder of his wife, Lata, a constable, and their three-year-old son, Avansh. The incident took place on February 25, 2023, when the family was returning from a trip to Nainital. Initially, the police believed the burnt car was the result of an accident, but a thorough investigation revealed it was a premeditated murder aimed at claiming ₹2 crore (approximately $240,000 USD) in insurance benefits. Singh reportedly sedated his wife and son before setting the car on fire. While Lata initially survived the fire, she was later killed by Singh, who struck her on the head while she was being transported to the hospital. The police uncovered the truth after examining over 300 CCTV cameras and conducting a forensic analysis of the vehicle. Singh's previous wife had died in a car accident in 2020, raising further suspicions about his actions. Authorities are continuing to seek the remaining accomplices.
