On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review the government's response to challenges arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia. This was the second special CCS meeting focused on this issue since the conflict began a month ago. Cabinet Secretary T V Somanathan reported on actions taken to secure the supply of petroleum products, notably liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The government is diversifying sources for LPG procurement, with new supplies coming from various countries. Notably, domestic LPG prices remain stable, and measures are in place to prevent hoarding and black marketing. The meeting also addressed agricultural challenges, including increasing urea production and coordinating with international fertilizer suppliers. The government has established control rooms for monitoring food commodity prices, which have remained stable over the past month. Additionally, diplomatic efforts are underway to secure safe passage for vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of authentic information dissemination to prevent misinformation during the crisis.
