The Delhi government has unveiled plans for a 19.2-km elevated road along the Yamuna River, extending from Wazirabad to the DND flyway, to alleviate traffic congestion. This project will be executed in three phases: from Surghat to ISBT, ISBT to Sarai Kale Khan, and Sarai Kale Khan to DND. Additionally, a 2.62-km flyover from Tripolia Gate to Barfkhana is in the pipeline. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the importance of developing a modern public transport system during a review meeting with senior officials, including those from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Currently, 104.45 km of metro rail with 81 stations is under construction, with Phase IV corridors expected to be completed by December 2026. Ongoing projects include a 2.16-km double-decker flyover from Azadpur to Tripolia Chowk, which is 73% complete, and a 1.40-km flyover from Yamuna Vihar to Bhajanpura, nearing 85% completion. The government aims to enhance urban mobility and reduce pollution through these infrastructure developments.
