The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved a significant cost increase for the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery project, raising it from ₹43,129 crore to ₹79,459 crore. Additionally, the CCEA sanctioned investments in two hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh and set a budget for fertiliser subsidies for Kharif 2026.

On Wednesday, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a substantial increase in the cost of the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery project, raising it from ₹43,129 crore to ₹79,459 crore. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited will contribute an additional ₹8,962 crore, bringing its total equity investment to ₹19,600 crore. This refinery, located in Pachpadra, Rajasthan, is expected to produce petrol, diesel, and critical petrochemicals, enhancing energy independence and reducing import reliance.
The CCEA also approved the ₹26,069.50 crore Kamala Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh, which will generate 6,870 million units of energy annually, and the ₹14,105.83 crore Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project, expected to produce 4,852.95 million units of electricity. Both projects aim to bolster power supply and support national grid stability. Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned a ₹41,533.81 crore Nutrient-Based Subsidy for phosphatic and potassic fertilisers for the Kharif 2026 season, ensuring affordable fertiliser availability for farmers.
