In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Bondi as a 'Great American Patriot' and indicated she would transition to a significant new role in the private sector. Todd Blanche, currently the deputy attorney general, will serve as the acting attorney general following Bondi's dismissal. Lee Zeldin, a former congressman and current head of the Environmental Protection Agency, is reportedly a strong candidate for Bondi's permanent replacement. During her time in office, Bondi oversaw a significant restructuring of the Justice Department and shifted its focus toward immigration cases, while also facing scrutiny for complying with Trump's demands for criminal charges against his perceived enemies. Notably, her tenure saw the indictment of figures such as James Comey and John Bolton, as well as ongoing investigations into other Trump opponents. Bondi's controversial handling of the Epstein files had increasingly frustrated Trump, contributing to her dismissal.
