The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in Haryana has ordered a halt on approvals for the stilt plus four floors policy for residential plots following a stay from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court's interim order, issued last Thursday, cited concerns over inadequate infrastructure in residential colonies as the reason for the stay. DTCP director Chander Shekhar Khare instructed various departments, including the Housing for All department and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), to comply with the court's directive. More than 5,000 applications had already been approved under this policy prior to the stay. The court is set to revisit the matter on April 8, 2024. DTCP officials confirmed that around 150 applications under the policy have been immediately put on hold. Furthermore, the DTCP is requesting HSVP to provide a standard operating procedure for necessary infrastructure improvements and details on the utilization of ₹689.80 crore (approximately $83 million USD) allocated for this purpose.
