In a strategic move to connect with Dalit communities ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that protective umbrellas will be installed over all statues of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar across the state. This initiative is part of a larger effort to honor icons associated with Dalit rights and social justice. The announcement was made during the BJP's Foundation Day event in Gorakhpur, where Adityanath emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of the architect of the Indian Constitution. Beyond Ambedkar, the BJP plans to extend its outreach to other significant figures, including Sant Ravidas and Maharishi Valmiki, with beautification projects at their statue sites. Additionally, a cleanliness drive is scheduled for April 13, followed by ceremonial offerings on Ambedkar Jayanti, April 14. The BJP is also ramping up grassroots mobilization through rallies and door-to-door campaigns to spread its message and strengthen its organizational presence in the state.
