During a rally in Jalangi, Murshidabad district, Abhishek Banerjee (TMC national general secretary) urged voters to avoid the Congress party, asserting that doing so would only bolster the BJP's position in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. He alleged that Congress has formed an alliance with the BJP and Left parties, which could fragment the anti-BJP vote. Banerjee criticized Congress for not aiding constituents whose names were removed from the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, stating that the TMC was the only party fighting for voters' rights. He assured support for those whose names were deleted and called for appeals to tribunals. Banerjee also accused the BJP of inciting communal tensions in the region and promised that voters would respond decisively to misinformation spread by opposition parties. The elections for the 294-member Assembly will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting scheduled for May 4.
